DOKUBAZAAR že sedmo leto ljubljanskemu občinstvu predstavlja kratke in dokumentarne filme neodvisne produkcije. Med 21. in 23. septembrom si lahko ogledate več kot 50 iz različnih držav, ki predstavljajo kritičen pogled na družbo in dogajanja v svetu. DokuBazaar se bo letos prvič odvijal na treh lokacijah, in sicer v Trubarjevi hiši literature, Klubu Gromka in v Socialnemu centru Rog. Vstop na projekcije je brezplačen.

Superjednostka (Polish for Superunit) is a huge block of flats designed as a "housing machine". Up to three thousand people can live on 15 floors of the building. The lifts only stop every three floors so the residents must go through a maze of corridors and stairs in order to get to their flats. The main characters of the documentary are people living in Superjednostka and going through important moments of their lives there. This is where their emotions throb, their expectations engender, and their desires come true... or not. 762 flat doors and 762 stories. We are opening only a few of them.

L’Chaim! is a glimpse into the unusual life of Chaim Lubelski. He had a wild past as a hippy in Germany, London and Paris, before he became a millionaire in New York and a professional chess player in St. Tropez. When his mother needs care, Chaim decides to move in with her into the elderly home in Antwerp. He cares for her around-the-clock with remarkable joy, lots of laughter and singing. Shaped by his mother’s history as a Holocaust survivor, Chaim feels his mission is to ease her pain. The film is an intimate story about altruistic love and deep humanity. Furthermore, the filmdemonstrates how the trauma of war still affects the everyday life of the next generation.

In 1954, legendary Italian neorealist director Renato Dall’Ara shot his first short film, helped by a group of friends and communist Polesian cinema lovers. Being self-taught, he started the project almost just for fun about a fact which happened in Scano Boa, a thin, 5 kilometers long, sandy island full of mediterranean flora, the last one separating the Po river delta from the Adriatic sea. 60 years later, Lamberto Morelli is the sole survivor of that crew.

In 1970, Kosovar Albanian Ismajl »Smajl« Hoxhaj only came to Germany to buy a tape recorder. But it is only now — more than 40 years later — that he left Germany to go back to Kosovo as a pensioner. In the meantime, he has bought many tape recorders, started a family and, as a political activist, fought passionately for the independence of Kosovo far from his actual home.

Those who refuse to accept their fate try to organize themselves: they form little islands, common interest groups in search of spirituality. And some who have simply been forgotten spend the rest of their lives in the ruins of lost cities.

The film is inspired by Milgram's 'Six degrees of separation' theory with its assumption that every person in the world can be reached through 6 personal connections. The crew tries to explore the chain of connections between two randomly drawn protagonists: a young punk-rock musician from Warsaw, Poland and a farmer from little village in Mexico.
